Differences Between Golf Balls Based on Pieces
If you didn’t already know, golf balls are constructed with a few different types of inner cores. There are two-piece, three-piece, and four-piece golf balls, each with its own different specialties. Today we will be discussing the differences between each of these types of golf balls, so you understand which one is best for you. Enjoy!
Two-Piece Golf Balls
Starting with the most simple version, the two-piece golf balls, they simply have a solid rubber core and a firm outer layer. What makes these balls special is the fact that they are designed to spin less than the three or four-piece golf balls, but it does help them fly straighter. So two-piece golf balls actually tend to give players the most distance off of the tee.
Three-Piece Golf Balls
Next up we have the three-piece golf balls which offer the same distance as the two-piece golf balls but have a large difference in spin rates. The three-piece golf balls spin much more than their two-piece counterparts, especially off the tee box. They also tend to be better durability-wise since there is one more piece holding the ball together.
Four or More Piece Golf Balls
Last but not least, we have the four or more piece golf balls which also tend to be the most expensive options around. This includes the Titleist Pro V1 golf balls for example. With yet another layer, these golf balls provide spin rates higher than any other type of golf ball which is why you see them most often used by the pros. Unless you are very skilled, it does not necessarily do you much good to invest in these golf balls.
